Welcome to the Queen's Drama department
The Drama department at Queen’s is a thriving hub of activity! There is always a major theatrical production in the Michaelmas Term, as well as operas in conjunction with both Bampton Classical Opera and the Little Opera Company.
Recent whole school productions have included 'Oliver!', Disney’s ‘Beauty & the Beast’, Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night', Stephen Sondheim's 'Into the Woods' and 'The Sound of Music' by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Pupils in every year group have the chance to participate in these productions, either by acting in the cast, playing in the orchestra or as part of the stage management crew.
Lunchtime drama clubs are also popular, as are individual lessons in preparation for Trinity Guildhall Speech and Drama examinations. Every year Class 3 (Year 7) girls put on a classical play in their second term. Every pupil in Classes 3, 2 and 1 (Years 7,8 and 9) enjoys a weekly Drama lesson. The subject is then a popular option at GCSE, with several pupils every year going on to achieve top grades in Theatre Studies A-level.
